Simulation-based education workshop: perceptions of participants

This study assessed the perceptions of health professionals who participated in a simulation-based education workshop conducted at the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University. Participants rated the usefulness of simulation as a teaching-learning and assessment tool in health professions education, and reported strongly positive perceptions of its adoption in the Nepalese context.

Prevalence and factors associated with obesity among adult women of Nepal

A cross-sectional descriptive study exploring the prevalence and factors associated with obesity among adult women aged 20–59 in Ramkot VDC, Kathmandu district. Among 110 women surveyed through questionnaire-guided interviews, the prevalence of obesity and overweight was 24.5% and 1.8% respectively, with analysis of associations between BMI and caste, education, occupation and lifestyle factors.

Tribhuvan University certificate nursing curriculum

The Nepalese certificate nursing curriculum was developed in 1977 and used since with few revisions, amid open debate about gaps between curriculum theory and practice. This review evaluated the 3-year undergraduate curriculum through curriculum theory review and interviews with 15 nursing students and 10 tutors, recommending evidence-based learning, appropriate teaching-learning methodologies and a humanistic paradigm in nursing education.

Knowledge, attitude and application of computer by Bachelor Level Nursing students

Computer literacy and information literacy are critical to the future of nursing in the 21st century. This descriptive cross-sectional study of 108 Bachelor of Nursing first-year students across three institutions identified their knowledge, attitude and application of computers, finding a deficit in IT competencies and recommending integration of computing into the BN first-year course.
