Elective experiences of foreign medical students at the Teaching Hospital of Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, Nepal

Abstract
This paper documents and analyzes the trend and experiences of foreign medical students in the elective programme organized by the Medical Education Department at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Between 1997–2000, 268 students undertook electives; of 73 surveyed in 2000, 95% rated the learning experience good or excellent, demonstrating the unique value of electives in enriching medical education.
